The dogs below are not True Love Canine Rescue dogs. These have been posted by request of their current owners, who are searching for a new home for their dogs for a variety of reasons. Andy - Springer Spaniel
Early this week, David and I rescued a stray dog off of the street. He is an absolutely wonderful dog who needs a forever home. We have taken him to Good Hands Vet Clinic on Daniels Bridge Road and had him under the care of Monica Kucher, a wonderful vet. We have done EVERYTHING to him, and it has cost a fortune-lol!! We are giving him FREE to a wonderful, loving, INSIDE home. (You will have to register his microchip and buy his heartworm and flea control obviously) When we found him he was filthy, matted, teeth were horrendous, and he was timid and scared. Now he is looking great and ready for a family, home and love! Here is what we did and what we know:

He has now had his rabies vax, DHLP-Parvo, and his kennel cough nasal spray.
He tested negative for heartworms and he was given his heartworm pill.
He tested negative for fecal parasties.
He tested negative for Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplas.
We did a complete blood panel on him and other than slightly low RBC and EOS, it was all normal. The 2 mentioned are nothing to worry about.
We had his teeth cleaned! They were awful looking but now look wonderful!
He had a bath and was groomed.
He had his first tube of Frontline flea control put on.
We had him microchipped.
We had his hips and back legs x-rayed while he was under for the teeth cleaning since sometimes they seem to have a little weakness, but nothing showed up. Dr. Kucher said it is just the breed and age. He walks fine but also just loves to lay there and be petted and loved.
He is neutered.

As you can see, he is more than ready to be adopted to a loving family.
Dr. Kucher believes he is 8-10 years-old and is a Springer Spaniel. He weighs 38 pounds. He is WONDERFUL with Luke, our almost 3-year-old son and our dog Chloe. Not sure about cats, but I would bet he is fine. He is good on a leash and just wants to be petted and loved. I cannot stress what a great dog he is; we would love to keep him, but we are a one dog/one child family. You are what you are!
We have yet to hear him bark. He is NOT a jumper, biter, or hyper. Dr. Kucher said with the right home he could still have 5 or more years left. She said this breed can live to 15 or even later with good, loving care, which all dogs deserve!
Those of you that know me know that he HAS to go to a home where he will live indoors; never chained, penned, tied, or left in the backyard 24/7; indoors and part of the family.
He would be so wonderful for a family with children, a single person, a retired person,.....anyone!! He is that super!!!!!!!!

Chox Mix Found in Winder

Can't find this dog's owner.  We've been calling him Doggie, and would love to keep him, but can't.  He is about two years old, and sweet, but can be snappy.  He is a Chow mix, maybe part retriever.  He needs, optimally, an hour's walk a day to keep him from getting frustrated.  Early in the morning and late afternoon seems to work well.  He's lived happily inside with two adults for a few weeks, but, he doesn't mind being outside for a little while (he can't stay outside too long, even with water, because of his glossy, black, double coat).  He loves to run and fetch, but, you should not play tug-of-war or wrestle with him.  He is neutered, very responsive, minds well, is house-broken, and does not bother, or mess things up, in the house--although he has tried to sneak paper towels and socks a few times.  :)    

 He has been very friendly with us.  Has barked and growled a few times at people and other dogs on walks, while outside, or when they approach the car window or door, but he is learning not to.  He just needs to be re-directed. He is very smart, and is responding well to the rehabilitation techniques outlined in CESAR'S WAY, by Cesar Millan.  He spent a week at Animal Control in Winder, then spent a night at the vet, so that he could have everything done which they require for adoptions (microchipping, shots, tests), and has visited another vet's office for some more initial care (heartworm, flea & tick prevention, exam, etc.).    

 This attractive, medium-sized, dog with medium-length hair (which sheds) would make a super pet for the right owners.

Magnum

Magnum is a neutered male Doberman Pinscher about 2yrs old with a wonderful personality. He plays well with other dogs and loves people of all sizes. He has a lot of energy and does extremely well with clicker training. Magnum enjoys his nightly runs especially when he gets to run next to the bicycle. Brindle Puppy

Fruit Stand stray!  Cutest pup!  Needs a new home.  He is precious and doing so well after only 4 days with us.  LOVES all the tender love and care and loves other dogs and wants to play.  Beautiful brindle color and markings.  Anyone who knows of someone needing a great pet, let me know.  Such a cutie!  PS has had ALL shots, etc!! Vet estimates 10-12 months old. Male (neutered) shots are current, walks on a leash, gets along with other big dogs(3), brindle color ,sweet, housebroken, rides in the car, has energy but not crazy doesn't bark, will sit at your feet while you work on the computer, such a great indoor pup for someone, will sit upon request. Sawyer

We had a 15 month old Pitt Bull Terrier mix named BamBam (we've changed his name to Sawyer)  relinquished by the owner into our care. He has parvovirus and some intestinal parasites, both very treatable with appropriate care. He is a gentle, calm and very sweet boy. We currently are limited on funds to treat him. May Day

"May Day" walked up to my job site in Bishop a week ago and has had a safe refuge at our home. She's a gorgeous, long legged lab mix with a blue-black coat, a few white markings on her chest, and bright yellow green eyes. She's approximately 14-18 months and currently weighs around 55 lbs.

While she's still acclimating to our pack, she seems to have a sweet submissive personality and remarkable athleticism. She has had a great time sunbathing in the backyard and playing, jumping, and rolling around with our 1 year old Shepherd mix. She is submissive to people and other dogs, responds well to "no" by laying down, and rolls over for belly rubs frequently.  She seems as though she would make a great, active companion with leash training.

Gigi

Gigi is a medium sized hound mix, around one year.  She is very loving and has a submissive personality. She is great with other dogs her size and with children who are past the toddler phase. However, she needs to be in a home with no cats. She takes a little longer to warm up to men.  She loves going on walks and to the dog park.  If her new family wants to let her roam free in the yard, they should have a wooden six foot fence, since she can climb chain link fences.  Beautiful Gigi is spayed, has a microchip, is heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations.  I sadly cannot keep her since she doesn't get along with my cat, but she is all around a great dog. She's a nice balance of calm and playful.

Pedro and Otto

Pedro and Otto are fully vaccinated, heartworm tested (both are negative) and have had a thorough checkup at Winterville Animal Clinic. Both are in good health. They have an appointment to be neutered Wednesday April 28 in Covington (we delayed this only because we thought they might be in transport). They are supplied with new nylon collars for their tags and new plush dog beds that will go with them to their homes/fosters. I've paid for all this with my original sponsorship offer of $500, and there is still money left.
    Shy submissive Pedro is adjusting beautifully to spending time away from his bud Otto. Sarah report that he acts much younger than the 10 years the AC staff assessed. He's revealing himself to be a sweet, companionable dog who gets along with all people and creatures he's encountered, and has no issues except a strong need for positive attention and approval. This tells us the two need not be kept together; a good thing since we worried early on that Pedro's dependence on Otto's company would lead to separation anxiety.
    And because Otto is a young, untrained, intact male Pit Bull (he's basically a 50-lb high-energy, happy cannonball with no manners and endless enthusiasm, and is probably younger than his assessed age of 3 years), his foster Sarah has had him evaluated by a trainer to see if he has any underlying aggression or behavioral issues. A behavioral evaluation was worth paying for. I spoke with the trainer who evaluated Otto yesterday (4/24) while I was paying for the session. He confirmed that Otto is young, energetic, and lacking even the basic obedience skills, but that he's a good-tempered and has benefited from Pedro's gentle devotion and influence. I'm willing to pay for any professional training or obedience classes Otto needs while in foster care.

Nico and Winston

We have two dogs that we need to find homes for.  We moved this weekend and unfortunately they cannot come with us. 

Nico is a 1 1/2 y/o yellow lab/boxer mix.  She is spayed and has spent time indoors but I wouldn't be fully comfortable saying she is completely house broken.  She came from the pound for a companion for Winston. 

Winston is an 8 y/o beagle /terrier mix.  He is nuetered and is housebroken.  He was given to us by a friend that had the same issue:  moved and had no where to put him.  We've had Winston almost 2 years.

They are both leash trained and love meeting new people.  They are very trusting of strangers.  The phone man went back there and Winston took him his ball.  They will bark at strangers or small animals that are nearby as well as trains.  They have been around children and do great.  They can both sit, shake, and speak.  Nico has learned not to jump when she sees you.  They are wonderful pets.  I have been told by many that Winston is a character and Nico is a doll.

Boxer/Hound Mix

My daughter picked up a 6-9 month old boxer/hound mix that she saw pushed out of a van.  We have tried desperately to find a home for this smart, sweet dog for over a month and can’t find one.  We already have 5 dogs and can’t afford another.  She is crate trained, housebroken, and good with cats and dogs.  Contact Kathleen at 706-540-8703.

Miss CC

4 year old female—spayed, Leukemia-negative, de-wormed, all shots & front-line flea control. CC’s care-giver died leaving her care to Christ Community Church. CC is primarily living out of doors—exposed to traffic on Hwy. 138 and predators. We’re looking for a wonderful, loving, attentive, final indoor home.

Since she has primarily been outdoors, a screened porch or sunny window would be the perfect spot. CC is gentle, loving and calm around children. She deserves a loving home out of harms way with lots of toys, beds and care.

Tess

Tess is an older beagle, maybe 10 - 12 yrs old, she is a rescue dog.  She was my ex-husbands dog and he can't take her.  I can't afford to keep her.  She is sweet and very well behaved.  She loves other dogs her size or smaller.  She has a little seperation anxiety so she needs a little company.  She gets along with cats as well.  Storms make her nervous, but she isn't any trouble, as long as she has a cozy corner or a lap to curl up in she is fine.  She loves to eat!  I really hate to give her up but, I just have to.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email at alishea@msn.com or on my cell 678-733-1646.

Sam

He is a year old mixed breed.  He weighs about 35 pounds and is full grown according to our vet.  He is a happy dog, but a little timid at first around strangers. He is also good with kids and other dogs. We are not sure how he would be with a cat, however.

Rhett Butler

Rhett is about 1 year old.  He is a whippet mix and is very active.  He really enjoys the company of other dogs, cats and people. He is current on all shots, heart worm and flea prevention medications.  He is neutered too.  He's a great dog, but too much dog for my daughter's apartment.  I think he would do best in a fenced yard or with someone who is home all day to give him his much required attention.

Indie

Indie is a sweet 7 month old pit/lab mix. She is golden with a white belly. She is very curious and energetic, but very loving. She gets along great with other dogs, cats, and children. Toby and Miche

Toby (male, L) and Miche (female, R) are Border Collie mixes who have recently been rescued after their Mom had to move into an assisted living center.  Both are fully vetted, housebroken and spayed/neutered.  Toby looks like he is mixed with a Spaniel and Miche looks like she is mixed with a Lab.  Both get along with other dogs and cats but Toby does have a dominant, protective personality and may not work well with all other dogs.  Miche is shy until she gets to know you and feels comfortable.  They are both adult and fully grown but still rather young.  These dogs do not have the Border Collie hyper drive that purebreds do, and make wonderful inside/outside family dogs.

 

 

 

Sweetie

This is Sweetie she is a 14 mon Spayed Female Pit Bull.  She loves to be a couch potato and enjoys  snuggling with someone in the bed.  She was found last year hit by a car and with surgery and a great foster home she has recovered well.  She can be very shy and does not like loud noises or quick movements, they scare her.  Now looking for her forever home, she is current on shots and on heartworm and flea prevention.  If interested please come by or call Firehall 4 Animal Hospital. Cocker Spaniel

She was a stray and wandered up to the home of a couple who kept her for six weeks, but couldn't keep her longer because they already had three dogs.  It took several days for her to come to them, and she's still a little wary of new people but gets over it quickly now.  She loves our cat and other dogs and is very playful with them and with me.  She has been spayed, had her shots, gotten a microchip, been to clicker class and gotten regular grooming.   She's a beautiful little dog, about 19 or 20 pounds, and is probably around 2 or 3 years old.  She is housebroken and crate-trained.  She's a wonderful happy little dog as long as children aren't around.   She would never bite, but can't stop fearful barking at them. Puppies

Two small puppies wandered into my front lawn week before last, apparently home/owner-less, and I'm trying to find a home or homes for them. Both are healthy and have had first round of shots. Both appear to be terrier mixes: the boy looks like terrier and Australian shepherd (brindle & white); the girl looks like a bull terrier (solid brown). These will be medium to large dogs at maturity. Both will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. And both are incredibly cute; they are energetic and playful but also love to cuddle. They are smart-- both are picking up on sitting and housebreaking with relative ease. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting, please let me know.
